A large rally and "bucket brigade" will be held at noon on Monday, May 7 in Klamath Falls, Oregon, to show support for the Klamath Basin in the wake of the devastating news that water will be allocated to fish, rather than families and farms. The brigade will pass buckets of water from person to person for five miles from the lake to an empty irrigation ditch.

The federal decision to allocate all available water to three species of fish means that there will be NO irrigation water delivery to 210,000 acres of farmland. This will cause an expected economic loss to the region of $300-$400 million dollars, making it almost impossible for the region to survive.  It also betrays the promise made to WWI and WWII veterans invited by the federal government to homestead and farm the "reclaimed" lands.

Please plan to attend and stand shoulder to shoulder with the people of these small agriculturally-dependent communities against this injustice .  SPECIAL KLAMATH BASIN CRISIS PAGE and NEWS RELEASE
